Eligibility for Qualifying Exam (QE)
(1) After completing required credits which are 10 credits and at least 8 elective credits, as well as lab rotation, students in their first semester of third year are eligible to apply for the Qualifying Examination (QE).
(2) Students are obligated to pass QE by the end of the third year. QE can be taken twice. Failure to pass QE will result in disqualification from the program. Students who pass QE advance to become a Ph.D. candidate.
(3) Constitution of Examination Committee
Advisor suggests 5 to 7 committee members and NRM director elects 4 of them, including 1/3 members must be outside from the NRM faculty, to constitute the Examination Committee.
(4) Application documents:
A. Ph.D. candidate QE application form.
B. Original copy of transcripts.
C. Proposal and Abstract abstract (including research direction, research methods, or preliminary findings if any)
